| For Innovators - How to apply for investments |
|
The present section of the RUSSBA website is specially intended for
innovative companies (or individuals who initiate innovative projects) which
require investments to develop their businesses at early stages (namely seed
and start-up stages) in the amounts of maximum 30 million rubles. Currently, RUSSBA incorporates circa one hundred private and institutional
investors who are ready to invest in innovative and rapidly growing companies
to gain high returns. Also, RUSSBA accepts projects for consideration even if no
enterprises are established yet to implement those projects but their
initiators are ready to do so in case of obtaining investments. RUSSBA can be viewed as a platform for direct contacts between investors
and companies who need investments. In most cases, these contacts are
established at RUSSBA Presentation Sessions. RUSSBA brings a company to the
investing stage. To that effect, experts of the Union perform, jointly with
project initiators, review and assessment of the presented projects, and if they
are evaluated as promising for commercialization, prepare documents required to
present the projects to investors. This joint work results in a business
proposal on the project, developed in a format required by business angels and
venture funds, and its presentation at the RUSSBA Presentation Session. Measures aimed at attaining investments to the prepared projects may also be taken after the Session.
PROJECT INITIATORS SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO: To participate in the process of reviewing, your project should meet the
number of investing criteria listed below. Please pay attention to the
following project-relating materials before forwarding your project to RUSSBA,
since companies which do not comply with the given criteria will not be
considered. Be sure that you have prepared your answers to the following questions:
INVESTING CRITERIA Every day, RUSSBA accepts project checklists (resumes), business plans and
business proposals. To be considered, your proposals should meet the following
criteria:
PROCEDURE FOR REVIEWING AN
APPLICATION (an innovative project checklist) If your company meets the above criteria, you may fill in your on-line
application for investments, i.e. your innovative project checklist outlining
basic features of your project. Some companies matching the above criteria will be chosen for further consideration, and our experts will contact them for more detailed review. Be it the case, more detailed information on the project will be required in the RUSSBA business proposal format.
Companies matching RUSSBA investing criteria will undergo the following
steps: STEP 1: Filling-in the innovative project Checklist At the initial stage, RUSSBA experts review an application for investing,
i.e. an innovative project checklist where major features of a project are
briefly described. A standard Checklist form can be filled-in on the RUSSBA
website. RUSSBA only reviews the checklists which were filled-in
according to that format unless some other format is proposed by RUSSBA experts
for that project. If RUSSBA experts do not contact you within 10 working days after
filling-in the Checklist, this will indicate that your project has not been
selected for further examination. If more detailed or refined information is
provided the project may be reviewed again. STEP 2: Detailed review by
RUSSBA experts (preparation of the business proposal) Some projects will be selected for further, more detailed examination. In
this case, RUSSBA experts will contact you by telephone. If your project is
selected for further review, you will be required to prepare more detailed
information on the project as per the RUSSBA format. If you already have
the project business plan, it can be used. RUSSBA experts will assist you in
preparing a business proposal for investors. STEP 3: Assessment of projects
to be presented to potential investors Companies which have passed the expert review and prepared their business
proposals may be invited to the face-to-face interview to make acquaintance, to
refine some project-relating issues and to evaluate opportunities for
cooperation. At this stage,
the business value and investors’
shares will be assessed. If a decision is made to proceed with
the project, the project initiator will be suggested to sign an agreement on
attainment of investments, and preparation of the project to the presentation
to potential investors will commence. Independent technological, patent, legal,
marketing and financial-economic expertise of the project can be carried out if
required. STEP 4: Preparation to the
presentation To present your project to potential investors, you will be required to
prepare a 10-minute presentation using PowerPoint facilities together with a
brief description of your project. The project will be transferred to the
RUSSBA Expert Council where experienced business angels and venture capitalists
will give their assessments and recommendations to the project initiators.
The Expert Council will make the final decision on which companies will be
presented to potential investors at the RUSSBA Presentation Session. STEP 5: Project presentation
to investors at the RUSSBA Presentation Session In compliance with its Work Plan, RUSSBA arranges Presentation Sessions
where selected companies are invited to present their projects to business
angels, venture capitalists and other interested potential investors. Each
company delivers its 10-minute presentation; the time is also given to answer
the questions. Upon completion of that stage, investors nay contact the company
either directly or through the experts to obtain additional information and
assistance or to appoint the next meeting. STEP 6: Further
promotion After the RUSSBA Presentation Session, if no investors who attended it
expressed their interest to the project, RUSSBA will promote that project via
providing opportunities to its initiators to take part in venture fairs,
government-backed contests, direct proposals to potential investors, sector
corporations, publications in specialized editions, in the Internet, or at the
next presentation sessions in the framework of inter-regional and inter-country
communication. îáìåíà. NOTE: Since investments in innovative projects involve high risks, any project
may be rejected at any stage. Unfortunately, RUSSBA is
unable to issue its reviews or to answer to all applicants. Please note that in
any case your projects will be stored in our database to which we refer having
received investors’ inquiries. Projects which have passed the selection stage will be available for
reviewing by potential investors after processing thereof. Please fill in the Innovative Project Checklist as per the form attached.
